Having “sew” much fun!

This year Skyler had the honor of not only working in the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment Costume Shop, but she also was given the opportunity to construct costumes for her home studio, Attitudes Dance Studio. Skyler has always had a passion for sewing and getting to combine that joy with her love of the arts was a match made in heaven! Below are images of a few of the costumes that Skyler constructed and worked on throughout the course of this year.

this Beetlejuice costume for the studio’s production number was so fun to make! The choreographer wanted a looser fitting jacket with pants that tapered to a tighter fit around the ankle so they could be tucked into boots since this character mostly

I had so much fun constructing these 1930s-style pants with a side closure for Sleigh Ride choreographed by Cassandra Van Houten! Getting to be the head of this build was such a great opportunity!

Working on these bodices for Tye Love’s Angels We Have Heard on High was such an amazing learning experience as I had never built a bodice with boning before and I learned so many new skills!

This costume was for Meagan’s senior tap solo, Metronome choreographed by AshLee Goode. They knew they wanted a fun suit but could not find one they liked anywhere so I helped their dreams become a reality!

This Greek toga inspired dress was constructed for my sorority formal and was so much fun because I worked on it from design to creation!

This costume was created for Kally Jones’s piece The Raven. Kally sketched the costume and I was able to bring her sketch to life! Using the feathers was not something I had previously done but I was very proud of how the overall product turned out!

These jumpsuits were constructed for Michael McCarthy’s disco number, Monday Blues! It was such a fun build because these costumes are so different from anything else I have done!
